85% of voting faculty in the UC want the campuses to reduce fossil combustion!

University of California faculty voted on the following Memorial to the UC Regents:
“The University of California Academic Senate petitions the Regents for investments in UC’s infrastructure that will reduce on-campus fossil fuel combustion by at least 60% of current levels by 2030 and by 95% of current levels by 2035.”

This is a win for the Fossil Free Energy campaign that started with the UCSD Green New Deal two years ago! see https://electrifyuc.org

UC Retirement Will No Longer Hold Companies that Own Fossil Fuel Reserves

The UC has sold $900 million (confirmed Friday June 3rd)!

These are the automatic funds that UC people get their retirements put into. It’s a big thing that UC makes this change, but it doesn’t include companies that service the carbon industry (pipelines) & burn & finance it. We still need a focus on those and we still need transparency for the whole UC portfolio that is fossil-related: https://tinyurl.com/2ny5x3y6

This is a win for the long-standing UC Fossil Fuel Divestment campaign, including the efforts of the UCSD Green New Deal and the UC Green New Deal Coalition!
